Openness One Breath at a Time

This week we turn our attention to the breath. Each breath has a beginning, middle and end and we witness with curiosity and openness one breath at a time as it unfolds effortlessly.  When we notice we are distracted (and we will be!), we celebrate that we noticed and bring our attention back to the breath.  Every time we do so we strengthen our attention muscle.

Mindfulness of breathing is a foundational practice appearing in a wide variety of traditions from around the world.  Over thousands of years, meditation masters have recommended this form of meditation for people with highly distracted, over-active minds.  In our digital age most of us qualify!  It is a very accessible practice and the most heavily researched.
