Community Centers

Community Mindfulness Project partners with libraries throughout Fairfield County to provide accessible mindfulness programming for both community members and staff, fostering resilience and well-being.

Bringing accessible mindfulness programs to libraries and community centers, supporting both patrons and frontline staff in need.

Libraries are trusted community spaces where people seek learning, support, and connection. Community Mindfulness Project partners with libraries to provide accessible mindfulness programming for both patrons and staff, fostering resilience and well-being.

From securing grants for Ferguson Library to offering free virtual sessions during the pandemic, our model ensures mindfulness reaches those who need it most. As we expand in 2025, we aim to serve more community centers and frontline workers with unmet healthcare needs.

Public Libraries

Our public library programs invite the local community to connect with each other in a safe space, sitting shoulder to shoulder for mindful meditation. We are proud to support these communities with free mental-emotional health programming.

Small mindfulness habits create big transformations.

Just ask Jackie.

“Community Mindfulness Project has given me access to meditation, a gift that, for me, has now become a life necessity.”

Jackie joined the CMP community through the emme coalition, a multi-year project helping women and girls in Bridgeport live the life they choose, through Empowerment, Mindfulness, Motivation + Education. More than 2 years later, she now leads regular sessions for CMP in Spanish, has recorded many of the En Español guided meditations on our website and was recognized by Fairfield County's Community Foundation Fund for Women and Girls at their annual event in 2022.

Accessible in English and Spanish with transcripts available to those with hearing impairment.

Your questions, answered.

  • Yes!  In community spaces like libraries our programs often meet on a weekly basis and participants can typically attend without advanced registration or fee. Our sessions are welcoming to all, require no previous experience or skill, and provide guided meditations and moments of sharing and connection with the group. All sessions are approximately 45 - 60 minutes long.

  • It’s reassuring to know that we are enough - just as we are. There’s no need to prepare or bring anything in advance of a library meditation session. There’s no specific skill, ability, or outfit required. Come as you are. We’ll sit in regular chairs in a circle (although you’re welcome to bring a meditation cushion if that meets your needs). If there’s anything you require to feel comfortable (ie. a water bottle or sweatshirt) please feel free.

  • If you’re a nonprofit, community college, or local agency serving under-resourced communities in Bridgeport, Norwalk, or Stamford—we’d love to connect and explore possibilities together. If you’re interested in our work and not sure if we’re a good fit, please reach out and let’s have a conversation. Let’s learn and grow together.
