Carol Shear
Grant Writer, Facilitator

Carol is a registered nurse who fondly refers to herself as an ‘accidental meditator’, first learning about mindfulness meditation while attending Duke University Integrative Health Coach Training Program, 2012. With a background in public health promotion, it quickly became clear that the practice of mindfulness meditation could have a profound impact on our health and wellbeing which then inspired her to attend the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness where she completed Practicum, Mind-Body Medicine, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training before delivering MBSR in the community.

Throughout, mindfulness has served to connect her more deeply with herself, her life and our world offering insights and informing how she relates to it all. She is especially interested in the advances in and relationship between neuroscience research and mindfulness meditation.

At Community Mindfulness Project, Carol facilitates group sessions, conducts community workshops and supports the CMP team in grant writing. She is also a UConn Certified Master Gardener.
