Mindful schools pave the way for the next generation.
Children learn from the adults around them, so when we give adults tools to handle anxiety, stress and difficult emotions, they pass those tools along to the children in their lives.
Mindfulness that supports the whole learning experience
Imagine a school where teachers, counselors, and staff prioritize their own well-being—creating a calm, supportive environment for students. Mindfulness training helps educators reduce stress, improve focus, and support students' emotional regulation.
Community Mindfulness Project partners with K-12 schools and colleges in Fairfield County to bring trauma-sensitive, science-backed mindfulness programs to those who need it most. In Bridgeport, Norwalk, and Stamford, we’ve collaborated with 23 public schools, libraries, and nonprofits—reaching nearly 4,500 people through 600 programs in just 2024 alone.
Educators who practice mindfulness feel better, teach better, and support students more effectively. Join us in making mindfulness a skill that supports our mutual goals to help children thrive.

“I’m 66 and my son is turning 50. I had him when I was in high school, and was a single mom for 10 years. I knew I had to make something of myself, so I went to college, and worked my way up in education, to be here now.
From the start, this program has been revelatory as I put into practice what I learned in the first session.
I realized I don’t think I’ve breathed since I was 16 years old. Not one breath just for myself. I’m always doing.
For the past week, I’ve been stopping and taking a breath, and I can’t believe what it feels like. I want to cry, I’m so moved by this change."

Just like the saying “put your own oxygen mask on first,” our programs start by helping educators care for themselves. We guide them in regulating their own emotions, practicing mindful communication, and responding thoughtfully to everyday challenges. When educators feel grounded and supported, they’re better equipped to create calm, connected, and resilient classrooms. When students see these behaviors modeled, they begin to mirror them—learning to self-regulate, communicate with care, and navigate challenges with greater ease.

The programs we bring to partners (schools, community colleges, and nonprofits) are typically offered in 6 or 8-week program courses, where participants have multiple opportunities to practice a variety of mindful meditations, while fostering connections and building their mindfulness proficiency. No advanced experience or skill is required. Some programs include certificates of completion. One-time workshops are also available for partners. Contact us and we’ll have a discussion to see if there’s a good fit!

We believe in awareness, access, and agency. Not everyone is familiar with the benefits of mindfulness, so offering sessions to all educators and staff can be a powerful way to introduce these tools. By creating additional opportunities—not obligations—we provide access to practices that can strengthen resilience and well-being. At the same time, we honor each person's agency, trusting them to decide if and how they want to engage. Mindfulness is most impactful when it’s a choice, not a requirement.
Will you grow our work to train more adults in schools to resource themselves and better support our kids?
